The Lantern Festival

The Lantern Festival is the first important festival after the Spring Festival and one of the traditional festivals of the Chinese cultural circle and overseas Chinese.
In ancient Chinese tradition, the Shangyuan Festival (the day festival, the Lantern Festival), the Zhongyuan Festival (the festival of region, the Obon festival), the Xiayuan Festival (the festival of water) are collectively referred to as the Sanyuan. The Lantern Festival began in the Han Dynasty more than 2,000 years ago. Chinese Emperor Wen ordered the first full-moon night of the year (lunar January 15th) as the Lantern Festival. During Han Emperor Wu period, "Taiyi God" sacrificial activities are scheduled on Lunar January 15th. Since the Sima Qian created the "Taichu calendar", the Lantern Festival has been identified as a major festival.
The traditional custom the Lantern Festival is lantern, fireworks, guess riddles, eat sweet dumplings, pull the rabbit lights, enjoy the glorious full moon, playing dragon lantern, lions lantern dance, playing Taiping Drum and other.
